2025 GSA Research Grant Information

The GSA Research Grant Program funds scientifically meritorious research aimed at alleviating the challenges faced by individuals with Gorlin syndrome and their families. By supporting high quality projects, the program seeks to reduce disease burden and enhance quality of life.  Our competitive program is overseen by the GSA’s Medical and Scientific Advisory Committee, and projects are selected through a collaborative process with input from researchers and our community.

“Defining the BCC microenvironment change in response to smoothened inhibition: Identification of a role for addition of checkpoint inhibitor to optimize antitumor therapy for overwhelming disease.”

“Clinical Practice Guidelines for the Management of Basal Cell Carcinoma in Gorlin Syndrome.”

Principal Investigator: Dr. Murad Alam, Vice-Chair of Dermatology; Professor of Dermatology, Otolaryngology, and Surgery; Professor of Medical Social Sciences, and Chief of the Section of Cutaneous and Aesthetic Surgery, at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. 

Co-Investigator: Dr. Cahn, PGY-3 Resident in the Department of Dermatology, University of Illinois, Chicago.
